You wake up to the sensation of grass scratching at your back. Strange, you don't remember falling asleep outside. In fact, you don't remember falling asleep at all, nor do you know how long it's been. You vividly remember being awake just moments ago, but as you struggle to bring yourself to your feet, head thick with fog, you realize you may have been out for much longer. Recollecting yourself, you try to assess where you are. You're surrounded by an endless field of tallgrass as an ominous, overcast sky hangs above you. While deeply unnerving, something about this prairie feels familiar, yet unmistakably empty.
Before you can dwell on it, an unusual child emerges from the vegetation.
She extends her hand and looks up at you with anticipation.
